Ukrainian authorities have declared the start of mass production for a new locally engineered interceptor drone to enhance its air defences. Three initial manufacturers have begun production, with 11 more getting ready to set up assembly lines, the defence ministry announced this past Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Tested in Combat Situations

The drones will be based on a domestically developed system called “Octopus” engineered to intercept Shahed drones. This technology has been tested in actual battle and proved effective “during nighttime, amid electronic warfare and flying low,” officials confirmed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established a target of producing as many as 1,000 interceptors each day.

Recent Assault on the Capital Characterized as Calculated

Volodymyr Zelenskyy characterized Moscow's most recent assault against Ukraine as “intentional, premeditated and brutal” after six individuals were killed and dozens injured in a wave of night-time strikes across Kyiv. Air raid sirens sounded in the capital shortly after midnight this past Friday, with enemy UAVs soon detected overhead and heavy machine-gun fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.

The president stated the nation was hit by hundreds of UAVs and multiple missiles. Those killed were at home in a block of flats on Kyiv’s left bank when it was hit. Numerous of other buildings were damaged, including the Azerbaijani embassy.

Diplomatic Objection Following Diplomatic Compound Damage

The Azerbaijani government announced it issued a strong protest to Moscow's diplomatic representative this past Friday after the destruction at its diplomatic compound. Moscow's Aerial Bomb Production Experiences Major Expansion

Moscow intends to produce as many as 120,000 glide bombs this year, a high-ranking Ukrainian defense official said, among them 500 of an innovative, longer-range version that is capable of targeting more towns and cities. Russian forces have been launching hundreds of aerial bombs per day, with last month’s daily average standing at approximately 170, according to official military statistics.

Ukrainian Attacks Focus on Moscow's Oil Facilities

Russia’s Black Sea port of the port city halted for a period oil exports this past Friday – equivalent to 2% of worldwide oil production – following a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Military commanders in Kyiv said its forces had fired Neptune cruise missiles and deployed various types of strike drones in the attack on Novorossiysk “as part of operations to reduce the military and economic potential of the invading force.”

Ukrainian forces separately targeted an oil refinery in Russia’s Saratov region and an energy depot in nearby Engels overnight.

Global Sanctions Affect Moscow's Energy Company

The number two energy company Lukoil announced on Friday it has been in talks with interested parties concerning its international holdings after recent sanctions from the UK and the US and failure of an agreement with the Gunvor trading house. “Final arrangements are to be disclosed after conclusive negotiations have been reached and the necessary regulatory approvals are secured,” Lukoil commented.

Ukrainian President Schedules Visit to Spanish Capital

Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to travel to the Spanish capital, Madrid, on Tuesday to meet with lawmakers a day after his visit to Paris, Spanish parliamentary officials announced. Zelenskyy would meet representatives from all houses of the legislature throughout his stay, an official announcement said.
