Previous BBC Advisers Participate in Parliamentary Grilling Following Assertions of Prejudice in Unauthorized Document
We start with questions from Conservative MP the panel's head, that chairs the committee.
She opens by offering background to the disclosed memo written by Michael Prescott and released in the Telegraph.
"I do not desire the British Broadcasting Corporation tilting toward one side or the other, I just want it straight, impartial and just," he says.
In response to a query whether he believes the British Broadcasting Corporation is institutionally biased, Prescott responds: "Absolutely not. It is important to note, tons of stuff the British Broadcasting Corporation does is exceptional - both informative and entertainment programming."
But he adds: "There is real work that must be undertaken at the BBC."
The second ex-adviser BBC specialist interviewed by the panel, Caroline Daniel, remarks she regards the BBC with great importance and that it has a "continuous process and lively discussion" regarding fluid and multifaceted subjects.
"Did the BBC ready to conduct a proper dialogue and exchange and implement changes?" she questions. "From my perspective, yes they were."
