First-choice Eleven

Dean Henderson Not a save to make in the first half until tested by an opponent's bent shot. His sliding tackle on an Albanian attacker demonstrated sharp game intelligence. 6/10

The debutant Challenged against Albania’s primary attacker through their forward. Operated in a central role early on then shifted out wide after a teammate came on. 7

John Stones Moved up the pitch when in possession, a familiar role before. At times was too casual in possession with the approach abandoned by the interval. 6/10

Dan Burn A constant threat on corners and free-kicks, as always, but may be a replacement to Stones in defense rather than alongside him. One wayward distribution in the second half nearly resulted in a goal for the visitors. Six

The young full-back One more confident showing by the rising star following his debut versus another side. Saka was unable to take full advantage of a clever backheel over the opposing backline. His position is his to lose so soon. Seven

Adam Wharton His maiden beginning with the national team. Somewhat careless on the ball but his dangerous set-pieces caused problems. A useful pace-controller for the coach to utilize versus defensive opponents. Shown a yellow for a rash tackle. Six

The midfielder Set-pieces on corner kicks and free-kicks caused problems. Enjoyed room to move in left midfield only to be offside as the pass came in front of goal. Granted a merited break around the 60-minute point. 6/10

The star midfielder Functioned in a forward position out wide while also put in the hard yards. Demonstrated moments of class and dragged a shot high. Substituted towards the end by Rogers, a fellow player, after being booked. 7/10

Jarrod Bowen Was presented with the team's best chance of the first half, his effort excellently kept out by Thomas Strakosha. As a teammate staying deep, he was forced to stretch the play on the right although his balls from wide areas varied in quality. Substituted with 15 to go. 6/10

The captain The difference-maker with his two more finishes for his country. The first a trademark close-range tap-in and his next a classy headed goal having drifted away away from the opposition. At 32, his form is unwavering and England stand a real opportunity next summer when he's in the team. 8

Eberechi Eze Had difficulty to make an impact out wide. Had a good opening when set up by the midfielder but the keeper kept it out. Rashford produced a bigger influence in his place. 5
