The former personal attorney for Donald Trump has resigned as New Jersey's top federal prosecutor. This comes after a legal ruling that challenged her legal standing to occupy the role.
Official Departure
The nation's top law enforcement official, Pam Bondi, announced Habba's resignation on Monday. Bondi stated that the court's "flawed" ruling made it unworkable for the official to effectively run her office.
"But do not mistake following the order as giving up," Habba stated. "This battle will now extend throughout the nation."

Habba's exit comes a week after a judicial panel ruled that she had been unlawfully serving as the top prosecutor. This decision is expected to impact numerous prosecutions in the state.
The appellate judges declared that a temporary posting that did not receive the advice and consent of the Senate violated the Federal Vacancies Reform Act.
