Iran Reports Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any destruction is uncertain and the American officials has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and destroyed a several projectiles," it added.
It said debris fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
