Arrests Executed in Relation to Enormous Unlawful Rubbish Dump
Two men have been arrested as an element of an probe into the tipping of several thousand of tons of waste in a rural field in Oxfordshire.
Law enforcement indicated that a 69-year-old was apprehended at a property in Andover, Hampshire, while a man in his fifties was arrested in Slough, Berkshire in relation with the huge pile of rubbish deposited near Kidlington, Oxfordshire.

It constitutes just one of 517 unauthorized tips in the country, at minimum 11 of which contain over 20,000 metric tons of rubbish. They include a 280,000-tonne site in Cheshire, two 50,000-tonne locations in Lancashire and Cornwall and a 36,000-tonne dump in the county of Kent.
The actual amount of such larger dumps is expected to be greater, as the regulatory body has in the past indicated it does not maintain records on tonnage for all illegal tip.
The majority sites are in countryside areas, typically hidden, and on land that is intended to be arable ground.
Organized Enterprise
Police say numerous are operated by organized crime groups, who are earning money by charging significantly less than licensed operators to take and dispose of rubbish.
Companies have to be liable for disposal fees to use legitimate disposal sites, based on the quantity and nature of refuse they are trying to get rid of, and landfill tax is also applied at just over £126 per tonne.
Public Anger

The apprehensions were carried out on the specified day by personnel from a specialist serious crime team and follow an previous detention of a 39-year-old from the Surrey region in November. He was let go awaiting more enquiries.
